In the summer of 1958 our family packed the robin's-egg blue Ford station wagon and headed west from Syracuse, NY. Mother & Father are packing the car outside the Catalina Motel in Bridgeport, Indiana.

One of our first stops was the Dayton, Ohio apartment building that we lived in during my father's WWII service in the Army Air Corps. Here is the same cast of characters from "way back then."

a little history
This is the photographic record of a trip my family and I took when I was 16 years old. [My brother was 12.] We drove across the country and back, taking 5 1/2 weeks. I took the pictures with a Brownie Hawkeye camera. Much of the text on these pages is what I wrote on the back of the pictures in 1958! I hope you enjoy this journey back in time. My, we were all younger then...
